the wrapping of the cake in chocolate didn't work out. at all, really. it was far too 80's for my liking.

the kicker came monday night, though. we made meringues...and i decided to make the most interestingly-named one. i had no idea how horrible my decision would be. basically, each one looked like a pile of steaming shit. i didn't even taste them. the negative esthetic quality overpowered any gustatory desire. so, i brought one home with me for laughs. you know, to show people and to giggle at. before i got it into my apartment, i had to wash my car and a wayward homeless man spotted it and begged to be given my 'cake.' well, i figured if someone deemed that horrific creation edible, i had to give it up t o them. so i relinquished my treat. i wonder how he liked it. thankfully, i'll never know.

last night rocked the house. we made petits gateaux. i made the 'shag' c/o Citizen Cake...white genoise, passion fruit bavarian and rum buttercream, sprinkled with coconut. holy bejeesus. that shit was so damn good. i am so pleased. and i realized that i really enjoy making tiny cakes. they are just the right size and much easier to handle than their gigantic relatives. so, lilliputian pastries will be my thang. love dem tiny guys!

i'm jazzed for some upcoming ventures outta the bay area...this weekend to monterey and next to mendocino. heck yes! and prolly back to chicago for thanksgiving. i am getting really stale being here...i haven't been away in MONTHS and i need a break. alas, a few are coming and i will undoubtedly enjoy them to the fullest.
